So the client reaches out a designer to find a way to improve the information transfer. What are you going to do?

A few weeks ago I was introduced to the social media site Pinterest. I'm a little late arriving at this party, but like many users before me, the more time I spend on this site, the more I love it! As a web developer and entrepreneur, I've had the opportunity to discuss lots of web applications with other would-be entrepreneurs and even work on a few. I've learned that starting up a new application (especially a social media app) is a risky proposition, and I've seen several fail within a few months of launch.

There’s no doubt that email is a powerful and unique form of communication, and a lot of business today wouldn’t be possible without it. Its strengths are that it works great for unscheduled communication between busy people, and it’s really useful when quick but not immediate responses are needed. But when abused, email can quickly turn from a useful tool into a major annoyance and disruption. Here are 5 rules for developers and their customers to keep email useful.

Recently we encountered a need to use Lectora for iOS development and required the need to synchronize some on screen elements with audio. If you are familiar with Lectora you will know that if you use the built-in audio with cue points, Lectora converts that imported audio to a Flash file which makes it unusable on any iOS device. Our customer needed this feature, so we finally came up with a workable solution using a JavaScript library called SoundManager2. Using this library and a simple cue point JavaScript event function, we were able to build our Lectora course using audio synchronized animations that would work on all browsers and devices including the iPad and iPhone! Here's how we did it.

Welcome to the newly reborn Webster Interactive Blog, and happy holidays 2011! For a web development company, we have been shamefully remiss in the management of our own site for the last few years, so we decided to give ourselves the gift this season of devoting dedicated time to cleaning up, adjusting, and publishing our own site. And a part of this new site will be regular content published via this blog.
